euvccam_cpi is a unicap capture plugin for the The Imaging Source AUC/BUC USB Camera series. This plugin replaces the intermediate solution for the uvcvideo kernel driver.
Supported devices:
- DFK 21AUC03
- DFK 21BUC03
- DMK 21AUC03
- DMK 21BUC03
- DFK 21AUC03_OBC
- DFK 21BUC03_OBC
- DMK 41AUC02
- DMK 41BUC02
- DFK 61AUC02
- DFK 61BUC02
Features and Known Issues
Features:
- Camera access via usbdevfs ( no dedicated kernel driver )
- Software colour interpolation ( de-bayering ) for color models
- Full camera property and frame rate support
Known Issues:
- Slight performance degradation compared to uvcvideo driver due to usbdevfs overhead
- De-Bayering code is currently slow ( SSE support and other optimizations are planned )
Installation
The euvccam capture plugin requires a recent camera firmware version. If you have an older camera, you might need to ask The Imaging Source support for a firmware update.
The euvccam capture plugin is currently only available in the source code repository on Launchpad.
Device Permissions
To be able for a normal ( non-root ) user to acess the camera, the device permissions have to be set properly. This can be done automatically by an udev rules file which can be downloaded below. The file needs to be copied to /etc/udev/rules.d.
Using the udev rules file, newly connected cameras will be available for users in the video group. Thus users that should be able to use the camera should be a member of that group.
Download
The euvccam plugin is no longer available as a seperate download. It will be contained in the next unicap release.
